![]() ![]() Some students said that they would never look at that hoppy green amphibian the same way. Manko, teaches the dissection unit, informed us that the frogs came from a food company, and they were left-overs. ![]() All of the organs could be carefully inspected, and eventually, cut out. There were yellow bits inside of the frog called fat bodies. They were very small, the heart only about the size of a pea. Once the muscle was cut open, all of the organs were exposed. When the job was done, you could find a slick layer of muscle underneath. Then, the real fun! You had to use the scissors to cut a open the frog’s skin. To see the frog’s tongue, you had to crack its jaw open. There were unfertilized eggs inside, and you had to remove them. The female frog was probably the more challenging gender. ![]() We were given an option to pick a male or female frog. There were many different organs, including but not limited to, the heart, liver, stomach, and lungs. Both having dissected frogs, they can give a few comments. Wilbert, one of the science teachers, a few questions about this “messy” matter. Heres what to expect from the SynFrog: Female frog model Gloved exterior skin with incision along dorsal aspect Soft tissue representing a layer of muscle. What is it about? Well, Kendall Katsch and Julian Bruno asked Mr. Dissections in VR are a safe alternativeAs teachers and parents know, dissections can present a risk to student safety due to: risk of being cut by a scalpel, risk of infection, and exposure to formaldehyde - which can damage the eyes, cause asthma attacks, and bronchitis.Frog Dissection. Furthermore, these dissections can only take place once a year and cannot be “redone” if a student makes a mistake. Over a 5 year period, a single classroom will spend over $4000 just to dissect frogs. Schools can save on the expensive annual costs of animal acquisition without causing harm to a single creature by using dissections in virtual reality. Lifelike physical models mean that the frog appears as it would in a real dissection allowing science teachers to feel good about substituting virtual reality for the real thing. ![]() This amphibian offers a complex internal anatomy. The dissection experience is recreated to the finest detail so that they are a suitable substitute for the real thing in a classroom. Anatomy Labs Preserved Grass Frog Specimen is the perfect specimen for observation, study, and dissection. An Authentic Science Experience Aligned to National Learning StandardsAll of the instruction follows the Next Generations Science Standards (NGSS), the national science standards for the United States. Along the way, a hologram of our teacher - national runner-up Teacher of the Year, Wendy Martin - will pop up to provide instruction and information to users. This true to life experience covers each step that a student would take if they were dissecting a real frog in their classroom. Learning can take place anytime, anywhereVictoryVR’s virtual reality frog dissection software is a hands-on dissection opportunity that users can experience through the power of virtual reality. Male frogs are also usually smaller than females. Learn the fundamentals of the female frog anatomy in a fully immersive virtual reality experience. Directions: Read the following information about dissections and about frogs.
